Overview

This is the personal website of Tobias Schmitt. It presents my professional background and links to my ventures. This policy explains how personal information is handled in connection with this site and any enquiries you send me, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What I collect

This website has no contact form and no accounts. If you email me, I receive what you choose to send — typically your name, email address and the contents of your message.

The hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring URL and server logs, for security, diagnostics and reliable delivery of the site.

Cookies, analytics and storage

This website does not set tracking or advertising cookies and does not use analytics. It stores a single flag in your browser’s session storage so the intro animation only plays once per visit; it contains no personal information and is cleared when you close the tab.

Maps

The company maps on this site are drawn locally from data stored with the page. Only if you click a single site does the browser request map tiles from OpenStreetMap. That request tells their servers your IP address and the tile you asked for; the address of this page is not sent. Nothing is requested until you click.

Why I use it

How it is handled

Personal information is used only for the purpose it was provided for, or related purposes you would reasonably expect. I do not sell personal information. Service providers such as email and website hosting may process it where necessary, and some store data on servers outside Australia. I take reasonable steps to protect it and keep it only as long as needed.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to access or correct the personal information I hold about you, or raise a privacy concern, by emailing schmittto@icloud.com. If a concern is not resolved, you may be able to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
